Thank you. I don’t trust my primary doctor and am in the process of finding another one. I just need my primary to recommend my OBGYN I think. I don’t know. Maybe I’ll call my OBGYN today. I was in perimenopause before my hysterectomy at 52, I’m 55 now and looking forward to being out of this stage. Lol

I see… you’re wrapped up in the administrative nightmare of an HMO (maybe?). Yes, check your insurance as some allow you to skip the primary care doctor when you need an OBGYN (this is assuming you’re in the US.) We’re about the same age. We’re the cool kids.

Thank you for including the Hysterectomy with keeping the ovaries paragraph. The hardest part for me has been wondering if I’m taking too much estrogen and not taking anything else. I have my physical next month and plan to make another appt with my OBGYN.

Medical and surgical menopause are the middle children of the menopause world 😉. I would use how you're feeling as a guide - are you feeling great or not so much. If not so much, you can ask your doctor to test your estradiol estrogen levels. The Menopause Society doesn't recommend general testing for every woman however you have a special circumstance where it's important to keep your estrogen levels in a place where you feel the best. Before your physical, if you want to discuss this with your primary care, you may want to call the doctor's office and give them the heads up that you want to talk about this so they can see about scheduling more time for you. These annual appointments lately have been in and out. Otherwise, your OBGYN can help.

Super helpful thanks! I’d love to understand more about estrone. As it is produced in the adrenals, I wonder if that means that the less stressed you are, the better or more the production? Ive been doing a lot of yoga and am feeling great physically. I’m sure it helps!

Thanks for your comment! I love your thought process and connecting the dots. As someone who once had adrenal fatigue, I can tell you that when your adrenals aren’t working properly they can’t make the hormones that you need at the right times in the right amounts. I would have to guess that this would include estrone too. I’m glad that yoga has been helping you and that you’re feeling great.
