All great natural ways of tempering the madness. Just had a lovely hormonal migraine a couple days ago. I do the magnesium thing but ended up taking ibuprofen which I hate to do. I'll try peppermint and a cooling wrap next time. Hopefully the next time will be many months away. They don't always hit me every month, thank God.
Thank you for sharing your story Dianne and thanks for expanding the awareness Shelby!
Jess I also have a prescription migraine medicine that I will take if I am unable to get rid of it with my holistic tools. Excedrin migraine also helps in a pinch as my prescription meds make me sleepy and if the migraine hits during my workday I’m unable to take it. I hope your next one is months away. I’m interested to hear if the peppermint has you as well.
Thank you, Dr. Connop! I appreciate your comment and hearing about your friends. There are other ways and Dianne is leading by example. And in fact, women with endometriosis who have a hysterectomy aren't recommended to go on HRT because estrogen is stimulatory to the uterine lining that may have grown outside the uterus but wasn't caught during surgery.
Very interesting. I have a number of friends who went through surgical menopause and each of them was told there was no option but to use HRT. It's refreshing to hear another perspective.
Dr. Connop thank you for your comment. I was told due to my endometriosis HRT was not an option for me because estrogen feeds the endometriosis. I was afraid to use it to be honest. I’ve learned so much since then and at the time I should have pushed for more education on the subject but I was focused on dealing with my new reality instead while working full time.
That is so interesting Dianne. My good friend who had a hysterectomy for endometriosis was told the opposite, that she had to go on HRT or her body wouldn't handle the sudden drop of hormones! So important to share stories and educate ourselves, the medical profession seems to have a lot of catching up still to do.
Great read! One of my childhood girlfriends was thrown into menopause after surgery last year and another friend also but after a near death experience. Unpleasant to say the least!
I hope she's okay now! How scary. Although the hysterectomy rate is dropping to an all time low many women still need it done for various reasons. Some don't realize that menopause is immediate after getting their ovaries removed. It's a shock to the system. I hope your friends are doing well! As Dianne has proved over and over, there is life after a surgical menopause. Thanks Jennifer! Dianne will be so touched you left a comment.

I’m thankful that we are now openly sharing our stories. For too long we’ve been told not to talk about it.

Thank you for the comment. I hope your friends are on the mend. Unpleasant is an understatement.
