Hi Shelby, yup.. fellow tinnitus sufferer here! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Such a pain in the arse! It's hard to explain it to people, but I think you did pretty well here 👍👏 Your dentist sounds amazing! Can you send her over here please 🙏😆 I think mine is also caused my jaw clenching - I actually have a mouth guard for this, but refuse to wear it as it is so uncomfortable. Love that song! 😊

You too, Eva! Ugh. I was trying to watch a movie this evening and it was louder than the volume on the TV. The dentist says I can reverse the tinnitus if it's caused by my jaw clenching and I wear the night guard. I'm going to have to get used to it. Good luck with yours and happy holidays!

How frustrating for you; I am sorry to hear of the tinnitus. And I had no idea that jaw clenching could cause it. Like you, I unfortunately have impressive jaw muscles. My dentist fitted me with a night guard in 1997, and it was awful getting used to it. He warned me that I would droll copious amounts of salvia at night until my mouth finally realized the guard was not a piece of food to digest. He was right, and I thought I would never get used to it. Now I can't sleep without out. I recently forgot the guard during a recent trip (thank you brain fog) and was sure I had clenched my teeth so hard that they had cracked and moved. They hadn't, but I would strongly recommend a night guard. It's been life changing for me. Keep us posted!

Thanks Susan! That's what I'm worried about ...not being able to get used to it. She showed me what it will look like and they make them so thin now. I used to have one that was like a mouth guard a hockey player would wear. You're doing such a good job wearing it every night and trust me you've saved yourself a lot of grief.

Shelby - mine is not that large, and I don't feel like a hockey player wearing it! I'd post a picture but it's not all that pretty after so many years of wear and tear 😂

That's what I had! Hockey guard! Lol

Now I really want to find that night guard! Just kidding. But seriously, I'm sure I still need it.

I would be miserable without mine!

Ugh that sucks! Out of the whole list, I hate that you can't hear owls or the rain!

I have tinnitus also. Not sure when mine started but it's been years.

I have TMJ also. I hope the mouth guard helps. I had a mouth guard about 20 years ago. Now where did I put it?

Hubs will say "That owl is keeping me up." And my reply is always "what owl?" I don't mind that one as much as missing the sound of rain. I always liked that sound. It has such a peaceful quality to it.

Ugh yes this. In 2019 I developed a weird beeping sound in my right ear. Thankfully it has subsided. But for many months it was loud, and sometimes would be accompanied by fullness and vertigo. Funnnnnn! One of the many, many symptoms that made me anxious before I knew it was peri-related.

Any ideas why you think it improved? Originally my tinnitus just sounded like a busy highway was running by my house but now I get all the bells and whistles.

I have no clue, except that it feels like I’ve gone through many phases of peri - it hasn’t been the same the whole time. For three straight years I was so fatigued that I was mostly bedridden, which is also no longer the case. Symptoms have come and gone like hauntings. It has all been so very strange…
