HTH = Hope that helps π. I normally don't talk in acronyms but I've got two college teenagers in the house and I resort to using their slang when they are around me. I don't even know what they are talking about half the time.
I love how you set out this information in such a relatable way! Easy to understand, and it doesn't feel like the usual doom and gloom when we are talking about ice cream. Thank you! π
Hi Shelby, this is so interesting π I have an IUD (Merina coil) fitted and therefore donβt have periods (I know not the same for everyone)... I would love to learn more about the other ways I can track/recognise when Iβm entering the menopause phase... please could you point me in the right direction? π Thank you π
Hi Eva! Thanks for stopping by. While the IUD most likely is going to mask some of the more obvious symptoms of perimenopause (the good news!), your ovaries are still preparing to retire in the background. Your body may show you subtle signs that things are changing that align with perimenopause symptoms. However, for confirmation of your menopause status (that you've reached menopause), I always suggest working with your physician, who can give you more guidance. It may or may not be helpful to know that you reached menopause, depending on your reason for the IUD.
Also, I would suggest checking out @JessMujica at Go With The Flow. I love her approach of learning to listen to our bodies through menstrual cycle awareness. Even though you don't have menstrual cycles, her lessons about listening to our bodies still apply. https://womenscycleawareness.substack.com/
Thanks for stopping by, Jennifer! And thanks for sharing it as a Note, too. I replied there but wanted to acknowledge your comment here, too. I hope you had a good weekend.
Love this metaphor. Iβd call myself Strawberry with Sprinkles because I had a hysterectomy but kept my ovaries, but was diagnosed with ER+ breast cancer 3 months later. Actually, is there a shitstorm flavour? That might be me! Great article.
That's Baskin-Robbins 31 flavors over there. Thank you, A, for being open to sharing your experience. I'm so happy that you lived to tell the tale, and I hope you're doing well now. π Shelby
